Mireia Cano is an independent consultant working with UN agencies and International and Norwegian NGOs on gender equality in humanitarian action. Mireia has worked with the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs as Lead Gender Advisor to the Colombia peace process in Havana 2014-2017. She fas also facilitated a Gender Audit of the Peace and Security Framework in DRC with International Alert, and an Evaluation of Women in Natural Conflict Resolution in Yemen with FAO. She is a member of the Nordic Women´s Mediators group. Mireia has successfully developed gender policies for the World Food Programme, the UN Counter Terrorism Office and the UN Economic Commission for Africa amongst others. She has led several humanitarian project evaluations from the Women’s cross-border trade project in Eastern DRC (International Alert) and the Itinerant Family Planning Program in Romania (CARE International) to a Study on Colombian Refugee Women’s Access to Housing and Land Rights in Panama (NRC) and the Rapid Response to Population Movements in DRC (UNICEF). She is an experienced trainer and coach with GENCAP, ECHO and the Norwegian National Centre of Human Rights. She is trained on ILO´s Participatory Gender Audit and has done a gender audit of the Prosecution Division at the International Criminal Court in The Hague.
